Book Review: Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

Marie Curie enthusiast and neuroscientist Bee Königswasser is excited to head into the career opportunity of a lifetime leading a program with the NIH and NASA designing helmets for astronauts called BLINK. Things go a little sideways when she shows up and realizes that 1) she is actually CO-leading the project and 2) none of her equipment is there or access granted. To make matters worse, she will be co-leading BLINK with her former classmate, rival, and all around arch-nemesis, Levi Ward, engineer and general-pain-in-Bee’s-side. It doesn’t take long for sparks to fly between these two, and it is not static from the experiments. Will these two let their stubborn natures ruin what could be a great relationship or will they embark on a relationship that is clearly (to all but them!) written in the stars?

This was such a cute story!! I thought more than once while reading “how can you be so SMART while simultaneously being so DUMB?!” over Bee and Levi’s painful naivety towards one another’s feelings. I have to say that I absolutely have all of the heart eyes for Hazelwood’s #STEMinist series - it is so inspiring and empowering to see kickass female leads in literature. I also loved the twist and the suspense in the betrayal mystery throughout the book. This added another dimension to the story that keeps you engaged and guessing. And I can genuinely say I am so relieved that it was not the person that I suspected! I highly recommend this for those who love contemporary fiction, romance, mystery, and science!
